After reporting that its sales fell again in the fourth quarter, Noodles & Company (NASDAQ: NDLS) said it has raised $18.5 million through a private stock sale and revealed plans to close 55 restaurants. In an unaudited preliminary preview of its Q4 results, the company said it had a systemwide decrease in comparable restaurant sales of 1.3%, based on a 1.8% decline at company-owned restaurants, but a 2% increase at franchised locations.
