Canada Goose Pops by 26% in First Day of Trading

The latest clothing purveyor IPO to land on the market, Canada Goose Holdings (NYSE: GOOS), was a hit with investors. The company’s stock rose by nearly 26% on its first day of trading Thursday to close at $16.08 per share. The company, which makes high-end winter coats and accessories, priced its IPO at $12.64 (17 Canadian dollars) per share, and sold 20 million shares to raise around $253 million (CA$340 million).






J. Jill Stock Slumps in First Day of Trading

The market’s newest retail stock, J. Jill (NYSE: JILL) did not have an auspicious debut on the New York Stock Exchange. In the first day of trading after its IPO, the stock dipped to close almost 3% lower than its offer price of $13 per share. The women’s apparel purveyor was brought to market by its majority owner, private equity firm TowerBrook Capital Partners.

First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) enjoyed a satisfying 5% pop in its stock price following the release of its fourth-quarter and full 2016 results. For the quarter, revenue dove by almost 50% on a year-over-year basis to $480 million. On the bottom line, the company swung to a loss,  largely due to restructuring charges — it posted a deficit of nearly $720 million, against a profit of $164 million in the same quarter the previous year.
